Question:

What is the Flashlight Effect on my LED TV and how can I fix it?

Answer:

The Flashlight Effect occurs when an LED TV screen emits excess light from one or more of its corners. An example of the Flashlight Effect is below.

Have the customer try:

  • Set the TV to the Standard or Movie picture mode.
  • Have the customer lower the backlight on their TV to 7.
  • Have the customer wait, the Flashlight Effect will usually disappear within 2 to 3 weeks. If the Flashlight Effect has lasted more than 3 weeks set the customer up for service.

Technical Terms:

Flashlight Effect - When an LED TV emits extra light from one or more corners.

Picture Mode - Settings on your TV that control how images look on the screen (like Standard or Movie).

Backlight - A feature that controls the brightness of your TV screen.
