Question:
How
does the standby light work on my TV and how can I control it?
Answer:
The standby light, usually located in or near the Power button, goes ON when
the power is turned OFF. It was designed this way to let you know the TV has in
fact been powered off.
Here is a good example of why it was designed this way. If you're through
watching a DVD and turn the power off for the DVD Player, the TV screen will
appear blank while it is still in VIDEO MODE. Seeing the blank screen will make
it appear as though you've turned the power off for the TV as well. However, the
standby light will not be lit. This is the only indication that the power is
still on. Hence, when you turn the power off, the standby light comes on,
ensuring the power has been shut down.
The Light Effect Function
On most Samsung TVs, the standby light can not be adjusted or turned off and
on independently. It will always go on when the TV is turned off and its
brightness can not be changed. On some Samsung TVs, however, you can turn the
Standby light on or off using the Light Effect function.
If your TV has the Light Effect function, follow the directions below to turn the
standby light off.
