Question:
How
to resolve an issue where my Samsung device automatically turns on/off along
with my TV?
Answer:
Usually
when an external device connected to the TV is turned on you will be turning
on the TV and switching it to that source.
For
example: When you turn on your Blu-ray player you will also usually
turn on the TV and switch the TV to that source to watch a movie.
Because
of this Samsung devices using the Anynet+ feature will automatically turn on
the TV when they are turned on and turn off when the TV is turned off. Usually
this saves time and is helpful, although there are some circumstances where
this can cause a usage issue and be frustrating.
For
example: You want to listen to a CD on your Samsung home theater. When
you turn on the home theater the TV turns on. When you turn off the TV the home
theater also turns off. So you turn the home theater back on and the TV also
comes on, so you turn the TV off and the home theater also turns off. If you
do not know why this is happening it can be very frustrating.
To
resolve an issue like this you have two options.
- Turn
off the "Auto Turn Off" function of Anynet+.
- Disable
the Anynet+ feature altogether.
Auto Turn Off
Function
Disabling
this function of Anynet+ will stop the external devices from powering off when
the TV is powered off but other Anynet+ functions will still be accessible.
In the example above the TV would still turn on when the home theater was turned
on but when the TV was powered back off the home theater would remain on.

Anynet+
Feature
Turning
off the Anynet+ feature will help you avoid situations, like the one in the
example above, altogether, although you will not be able to use the Anynet+
function to control your external device with the TV remote.
