Question:
How
to connect an iPod to a Samsung TV and what are the limitations?
Answer:
Important:
Not all models are compatible with Samsung TVs, for example the iPod Touch and
iPhone. If the customer’s iPod will not connect the device is simply not supported.

Important:
If
a customer would like to connect their iPod to their TV and use it there are
a few limitations because of the way an iPod stores its files.
- The
TV will only be able to play mp3 files off the iPod.
- iTunes
by default will
change music to an AAC file format. Any music on the iPod in AAC format will
not be displayed. Any music in mp3 format will be displayed.
- The
TV does not have a Shuffle function. it will play the songs in alphanumeric
(in sequence 1, 2, 3, … a, b, c, ...) order and in whatever sorting method
selected on the TV. For example; if the customer selected the “Genre” view,
and then selected "Rock" as the genre, the TV will play all the songs tagged as "Rock" alphanumerically.
- The
"Folder" view is not recommended for iPod users. This is because
of the way that the iPod stores information. However an iPod user could
use the "Artist" view to accomplishthe same task. For example; If the
customer wanted to find a
specific song by "The Beatles" and went to the "Folder" view he/she would see
not see the "The Beatles" folder, but folders labeled F01, F02,
F03, etc.
- The
TV will not display Picture or Videos files stored on the iPod.
Connecting an iPod to
the TV
- The
TV can be ON or OFF when connecting the iPod, but the TV must
be ON to listen to music.
- Using
the USB cable for the iPod and connect the proprietary end of
the cable to the bottom of the iPod, and then connect
the USB end of the cable to the USB input on the TV.
