Deactivating And Reactivating Your Netflix Account
Cyber Cyber

Question:

How to deactivate and reactivate a Netflix account using a PC when experiencing playback issues on a Samsung Blu-ray player?

Answer:

When you stream a movie from Netflix, your Blu-ray player and the Netflix server are in constant communication, either establishing connections, verifying user registration information or obtaining DRM licenses for movie playback. If your account is not setup or registered properly you may encounter playback problems when attempting to load the Netflix service or attempting to play movie titles.

Important:

  • These steps require a PC connected to the internet.
  • In this procedure you will deactivate and then reactivate your Netflix account.

Deactivating your Netflix account

To deactivate your Netflix account, follow these steps:

  1. Using your PC, go to www.netflix.com and login to your account.
  2. Click Your Account & Help on the top right of the page.
  1. Scroll towards the middle of the page to ‘Watching Instantly On Your TV Or Computer’, and then click Manage Netflix ready Devices and Computers.
  2.

  1. A list appears displaying your Netflix ready devices including your Samsung Blu-ray player. Click Deactivate on the far right.
  1. A prompt appears asking you to confirm your selection, click Yes. The page refreshes and a confirmation message is displayed at the top of the page.

Reactivating your Netflix account

Note: If you followed the procedure listed above, you have deactivated your Netflix account.

To reactivate your Netflix account, follow these steps.

  1. Power on your Blu-ray player and wait for the e-contents menu to appear.
  1. Using your Blu-ray remote, press the B button to select Netflix, the Disclaimer screen appears. Select your country, and then press Enter on your Blu-ray remote. This is followed by a series of about 9 setup screens detailing the terms of the disclaimer in several different languages. Click Next on each of the screens.
  1. The last screen appears. If you agree with the terms, click Agree to continue with the Netflix setup, otherwise you will be returned to the main menu.
  1. The Netflix registration screen appears, select Yes- activate instant streaming from Netflix, and then press the Enter button on your remote control. The Netflix screen reloads and a unique activation code is displayed, along with a direct link to activate your account.
  1. Using your PC go to www.netflix.com/activate, enter the activation code that is displayed, and then click Activate when done.
  1. The Netflix page reloads and ‘Activating’ is displayed. This normally takes about 1 minute or less.
  2.

  1. The last screen appears confirming the activation is complete. Your Blu-ray player will list your Netflix Instant Queue. Scroll through and select a movie to stream. The error will no longer appear.
