Not All Router Indicators Come On

Question:

What does each LED indicator on my router mean, and what should I do if it's not lighting up?

Answer:

You may have to contact your ISP or Router Manufacturer depending on which LED indicator does not light up. See below for an explanation:

  • Power: If there is no power this could be because the power cable is not connected properly, the outlet is not working or the router is defective and requires replacement. Since this is a third party device we do not have the available troubleshooting, check the accompanying literature included with your router or check the manufacturer's website and contact them directly.
  • WLAN: Indicates the router has successfully established a connection and your wireless network is working. When a router has multiple ethernet connections it will display an LED for each port, make sure if you are using a wired connection from the router, the port you are using displays a solid LED.
  • Internet: This LED will flash as it attempts to make a connection to your modem and becomes solid once the connection is successful. If this LED continuously flashes check that it's connected properly to your modem, and that your modem is receiving a signal. To go over Modem Indicators, click here.
