Your Blu-ray player will have the same initial settings setup structure when the player is first turned on and when the player is reset.

Note: Before beginning the steps below, make sure the Samsung Wireless LAN Adapter (WIS09ABGN or WIS09ABGN2) has been set aside as instructed in Step 1: Resetting The Blu-ray Player.

When you reset your player, you will see the following:

  1. The Initial Settings/On-Screen Language screen appears. Using the ▲ and ▼ arrows on the Blu-ray remote to select your preferred language for on-screen displays and then press Enter/.
  1. The message, "TV Aspect and Network will be set." will appear. Press Enter to Start.
  1. The Initial Settings/TV Aspect screen will appear. Select the setting appropriate to your TV and preference and press Enter.
    • 16:9 Original: Select if your TV is 16:9 (Widescreen). All content will be displayed at the original aspect ratio. Content formatted in 4:3 will be displayed with black bars on the left and right.
    • 16:9 Full: Select if your TV is 16:9 (Widescreen). All content will fill the full screen. Content formatted in 4:3 will be stretched.
    • 4:3 Letter Box: Select if your TV is 4:3. All content will be displayed at the original aspect ratio. Content formatted in 16:9 will be displayed with black bars on the top and bottom.
    • 4:3 Pan-Scan: Select if your TV is 4:3. All content will be displayed at the original aspect ratio. 16:9 content will have the extreme left and right portion cut off.

  1. The Initial Settings/Network Settings screen appears. Since we will determine if the USB/LAN ports or the Samsung Wireless Adapter are defective, press the Blue D button on your remote to skip the automatic wireless setup.
  1. The Home Menu is displayed. Insert the Wireless Adapter in the front USB/LAN port of your player, located below the power button on the front panel. The Network Settings screen will then appear.
    • If no prompt appears when using the front USB/LAN port, try the second USB/LAN on the back of the player. If the prompt appears when using the back port, the front port is failing and the player requires service. If no prompt appear on either port, the Wireless Adapter requires service or replacement. If the Samsung Wireless Adapter is within the one year warranty please give us a call at 1-800-SAMSUNG with your Blu-ray model and serial number.
    • If the prompt appears prompting you for connection, go to step 6 below.
  1. Using the directional arrows on the Blu-ray remote move to Wireless (General) and then press Enter. If your router supports PBC (WPS) select PBC and then press the PBC (WPS) button on your router for automatic connection. If you are not sure if your router supports this function or how to perform this function, see the accompanying literature that came with your router.
  1. The Blu-ray Player will search for a network. Once the network list appears, select your network and press Enter.
  2. If your network is password protected, the password screen will appear. Use the arrow keys and Enter button on your remote to select your password. Once your password is complete, select Done in the lower right corner and press Enter.
  3. Important: 26 character WEP keys are not supported by our Blu-ray Players. If you are using a 26 character WEP key you will need to change your password or use WPA encryption on your network.

  1. The 'Verifying wireless network connection' message appears. After the Player finishes verifying the connection it will display a message that the Player has connected successfully or which step it has failed at.
  1. If the Network Test fails on MAC address, the player requires service. The built-in wireless adapter may require replacement. Click the Create New Service button below to begin setting up service.
    • If the MAC address test passes but the network test still fails, click here to return to the main errors page to continue troubleshooting.

Notes:

  • These settings can be changed later in the settings menu.
  • Each time the Blu-ray player is reset (press and hold the Stop button on the player with no disc) you will be prompted to go thru steps 1-8.
  • If you do not wish to setup the network during the initial setup, you can press the Blue D button on the Blu-ray remote to skip but you must run a Network Test from Settings>Network>Network Status to verify the status of the MAC Address.
