Question:
How to troubleshoot connectivity issues with
my Blu-ray player and router?
Answer:
Since
your Blu-ray player can connect to your modem, this tells us your modem and Blu-ray player are working but the
issue lies with the router.
- You
may need to update the firmware on your router, or reconfigure its settings
so that it allows your Blu-ray player to access the Samsung Server. For example,
some routers will place the Samsung player on a DOS (Denial Of Service) list
and prevent connection.
- Make
sure DHCP is enabled.
- Make
sure the SSID is broadcasting, once your player makes a connection you can
go back and disable SSID broadcasting.
- Determine
the age of your router, although our players can work with Wireless A, B,
G and N - for better connection results try an updated Wireless G or N router.
- Move
the Blu-ray player to a different location and try a different router.
Configuring
your router
Each
manufacturer has a unique configuration tool, along with documentation and instructions
for configuring your network. To enter the configuration tool, you must open
your web browser and enter the router’s IP address in the address bar. You will
need to know the user name and password to enter your routers configuration
page. The default username and password varies by manufacturer, often the username
is left blank and the password is admin, or vice versa. Check the bottom of
the router for default settings or check the documentation that came with the
router.
Due
to multiple router manufacturers, router configurations and liability, we
can only provide general information, however, here’s a list of popular router
manufacturer sites that offer technical support. If your routers manufacturer
is not listed here, please perform a search using your favorite search engine.
