Question

What are the steps to follow when resetting a Blu-ray player?

Answer

When resetting your Blu-ray player, follow these steps:

  • The Initial Settings/On-Screen Language screen will appear. Choose your preferred language for on-screen displays using the arrow keys on the remote and press Enter.
  • A message saying "TV Aspect and Network will be set" will appear. Press Enter to start the process.
  • The Initial Settings/TV Aspect screen will show up. Pick the appropriate setting for your TV:
  • 16:9 Original: For widescreen TVs. Shows all content in its original aspect ratio; 4:3 content will have black bars on sides.
  • 16:9 Full: For widescreen TVs. Displays all content in full screen; 4:3 content will be stretched.
  • 4:3 Letterbox: For standard TVs. Presents content in its original aspect ratio; 16:9 content will have black bars on top and bottom.
  • 4:3 Pan-scan: For standard TVs. Displays content in its original aspect ratio; extreme left and right portions of 16:9 content will be cropped.
  • On the Initial Settings/Network Settings screen, choose Wireless (General) and press Enter.
  • The Blu-ray player will search for available networks. From the list, pick your network and press Enter.
  • If your network is password-protected, enter it using the arrow keys and Enter button on the remote. Confirm your password and press Done in the lower right corner, followed by Enter.
  • Note that 26-character WEP keys aren't supported. Change your password or switch to WPA encryption if needed.
  • Wait for the 'Verifying wireless network connection' message. Once finished, a success or failure message will appear.
  • In case of a MAC address failure during the Network Test, the player likely needs servicing. Consider contacting customer support.
  • If the MAC address test passes but the IP Address fails, troubleshoot further by returning to the main errors page.

Note: These settings can be modified later in the settings menu. Resetting the player (by pressing and holding the Stop button without a disc) will prompt you to repeat steps 1-10. To bypass network setup initially, press the Blue D button on the Blu-ray remote. However, remember to check the network status via Settings > Network > Network Status after resetting.
