Question:

What is contrast on my TV and how does it affect the picture quality?

Answer:

Contrast refers to the difference between the brightest (white) and darkest (black) colors on your TV screen. Your TV's contrast ratio has two measurements - Typical and Dynamic.

Typical Contrast Ratio: This measures the panel's native ability to produce bright and dark colors without additional features.

Dynamic Contrast Ratio: This measures the panel's performance when enhanced by features such as backlight dimming and DNie (Digital Natural Image engine) video processing.

The Dynamic Contrast setting can be adjusted (Off, Low, Medium, High) to improve or diminish picture quality. Setting it too high can make blacks overly dark, while not setting it high enough can result in lighter or washed-out colors. Finding the optimal balance ensures a clear and vibrant picture.
