Question:

How does the Film Mode option improve the viewing experience for 480i content?

Answer:

The Film Mode option will help provide a smooth frame transition when watching 480i content that is being corrected using 3:2 pull down. What this means is if you are watching a movie in a 480i resolution this feature can help smooth out the frame transition eliminating any picture stutter or judder. The film mode option is only available with a 480i signal otherwise it will be grayed out. There are three settings for film mode.

  1. Off: Disables the Film Mode enhancement feature.
  2. Auto 1: This is the optimum setting for a full screen video playback.
  3. Auto 2: This is the optimum setting for a partial screen or video with text playback.
