How to adjust the V-Chip rating settings on my TV?

 

Answer:

In this portion of the security menu you can change the limitations of your rating. To learn more about the ratings and the guidelines for these ratings click here to vist the FCC website explaining the different ratings. We have not only included controls for US rated programs but also Canadian rated programs. To learn more about the Canadian rating guidelines click here to vist the Media Awareness Network website.

  1. To use any of the V-Chip Features the V-Chip needs to be set to 'On". Press ENTER and then use the ▲ or ▼ button to select 'ON', and then press ENTER.
  1. Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to select the rating options you would like to adjust, and then press ENTER.
  1. Use the ▲, ▼, ◀, and ▶ buttons to navigate the menu press ENTER to block or unlock a rating. When you are finished press the RETURN button.

  1. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have finished blocking all the ratings you would like to block.
  2. Press EXIT to exit the menu.

 

    Terms:

    V-Chip - A technology built into some TVs that helps parents manage their children's exposure to age-inappropriate content.

    On/Off - Refers to enabling or disabling the V-Chip feature.

    Rating Options - Categories of television programming that can be blocked or allowed, such as violence, language, or sexual content.

    Arrow Keys - Symbols on the remote control used to navigate the menu options. In this case, ? and ? represent two opposite directions, and ? and ? represent the other two opposite directions.

    Block/Unlock - Actions taken to restrict or allow access to specific rating options.

    Return Button - A button on the remote control used to go back to the previous screen without making changes.

    Exit Button - A button on the remote control used to leave the menu and return to regular TV viewing.
