Question:

What is Internet Protocol Setup and what are its options?

Answer:

Internet Protocol Setup (IP Setup) helps you configure your device's connection to the internet by choosing between an automatic or manual network setup.

Automatic: In this mode, your router automatically provides necessary network details like IP address, DNS servers, etc., to your TV. It works when your router is set up for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP). This is suitable for most home networks since it requires minimal input from the user.

Manual: With this option, you'll need to enter network information such as IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server directly into your device. Use this method if your network has strict security measures or uses Static IP addresses.

Terms:

DHCP: Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, a standard protocol used to dynamically assign IP addresses and other network parameters to devices on a TCP/IP network.

Manual: A network configuration method where users manually input network settings like IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server.

High Security: Strict network protection measures designed to prevent unauthorized access or data breaches.

Static IP Addresses: Fixed IP addresses assigned to specific devices or systems within a network; unlike dynamic IP addresses, they do not change over time.
