Poor image is most commonly because of two things:
- Signal Quality
- Connection Method Quality
Information for each Image Quality issue is below.
Signal Quality Issues
Standard Definition (480i) signals look fuzzy on an HDTV. While many channels are
now offered digitally and at a higher quality than analog, they are still
480i signals. This TV always displays at a resolution of 720p no matter
what the resolutuion of the incoming signal. If the signal coming
into the TV is not 720p, the TV scales it to fit on the screen. The scaling causes
the distortion you see.

1: This is an example of what 480i picture displayed on a standard
4:3,
480i television screen. Because the picture was
made to fit this size screen at this resolution it looks clear and
sharp.

2: This is an example of what the same 480i signal would look like
when it is expanded and scaled to fit
your HD 1080i screen. Because of your TVs higher resolution and
size a low resolution signal will look fuzzy and distored depending
on your apect ratio setting. For

on aspect ratios.

Connection Method Quality
The quality of the connection method you
use also heavily affects your image quality. Connection methods, in order of highest
quality to lowest quality, are as follows:
- HDMI/ DVI
- VGA (PC)
- Component A/V
- S-Video
- Composite A/V
- Analog RF*
If you are using any of the bottom 3 connections
that are in red, your TV is always getting
a 480i signal and the picture will look like Picture 2 above. Samsung strongly recommends
you use a higher quality connection method from the top of the list.
* You can also receive HD through the RF connection on this TV without using
a cable box. The RF connection is only the lowest quality if
you are using a cable or satellite box.

and you still feel that you have a problem with your TV, please go through the
