Note: Whether you select Setup or Function in Step 3 depends upon the menu options your TV displays. You should see either Setup or Function and choose accordingly.

  1. Use the ▲ or ▼ button on your remote to select Caption, and then press the ENTER button. [The Caption menu appears]
  2. Press the left or right arrow button to set the Closed Caption feature to Off.
  3. Note: Your TV may have other selections than On or Off. For example, you may be able to select CC1, which displays Closed Captions at the bottom of your screen like sub-titles. You also may be able to select a Mode (Caption or Text), and a Channel. Different Closed Caption channels carry different information.

  1. Press the EXIT or MENU button on your remote to exit.

Notes:

  • The instructions above work for most standard Samsung TVs that have the Closed Caption feature, but your TV may be different. For exact instructions for your TV, see your user's guide. Look for a section titled Viewing Closed Captions.  If you don't have your user's manual on hand, click here to view the manual on line.
  • If your TV is connected to a cable box, and the instructions above do not turn off Closed Captions, the Closed Captions probably are coming from your cable box. See the instructions of your cable box to turn off the Closed Captions.

Important: If you have a current model Samsung TV, and, when you try to turn off closed caption, the Closed Caption function is grayed out, you may have your TV set to the wrong source. If the current source is Component, DVI, or HDMI, change the source to a standard source (Ant1, Cable, etc.). If the current source is a standard source, change the source to Component, DVI, or HDMI. Then, try accessing the Caption function again.
