Constant Low Volume
Cyber

Question:

What causes low TV volume and how can I fix it?

Answer:

Low TV  volume is often caused by:

  • A device that is not connected properly to the TV
  • A  volume control on an external device that is turned down.

The most common problem is the second one. If this is the case, you usually hear a hiss from your TV's speakers when you turn the volume up.

How To Check if a Device is Connected Properly

To check your connections, see How To Connect Various Devices (Cable/ Satellite box, DVD Player, Gaming System, Etc.) on the main menu of this Troubleshooting Guide. To go to the connection articles, click HERE.

How to Raise the Volume of a Device Connected to Your TV

To raise the volume, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the volume on the TV down to a reasonable level (around 15).
  2. Press [Volume Up] on the connected device (not the remote) until it is all of the way up.
  3. Adjust the TVs volume to meet your requirements.

Important: If you do not turn the volume on the TV down before adjusting the volume on the device you have connected to it, you could blow the speakers in the TV.
