Ice Quality

PROBLEM 1:

Ice maker is dispensing crushed ice when cubed ice is selected

SOLUTION 1A:

There Are Some Ice Cubes and Some Crushed Ice

  • There is a set of choppers at the front of the ice bucket. These choppers are driven by the auger motor and are used for crushing ice cubes. When Crushed Ice is selected, the ice bucket window flapper is closed. Ice can only be pushed out through the gap between the choppers.

  • When Cubed Ice is selected, the ice bucket window flapper is open fully to let the ice cubes out. However, since the bucket window is small, some of the ice cubes still go through the choppers and will be crushed while being pushed out by the auger.

  • Having some ice cubes and crushed ice mixed together is normal. This is caused by the small opening window of the ice tray.

SOLUTION 1B:

There Is No Cubed Ice At All And Only Getting Crushed Ice

If you see only crushed ice, please perform the following:

  1. Please take out the ice bucket from your fridge, close your fridge's door, and press the ice dispenser lever a few times to let the auger motor run.

  2. Please put the ice bucket back into your fridge and try dispensing ice again to see if the concern is resolved.

*If there is still no cubed ice, then service is needed.

PROBLEM 2:

Ice Cubes Stuck Together

SOLUTION 2:

Shake Ice Bucket and Discard Ice Cubes

Ice cubes sticking together is fairly common.

  • If you have not been dispensed ice for a long time, the ice cubes will remain sitting in the ice bucket. Then, they may melt during the defrost cycle and become stuck together.

  • To prevent the ice cubes from sticking together, please shake the ice container frequently and discard any ice cubes that are stuck together.

PROBLEM 3:

Ice Color Concern

SOLUTION 3:

Normal Color

Sometimes, ice cubes will not naturally appear clear.

  • If your ice cubes look milky white, there is nothing wrong with your fridge.

  • Many times, ice cubes will not be 100% clear. It depends on the temperature of the ice maker room.

  • Ice cubes made in the top portion of your fridge tends to be clearer than the ones made in the freezer.

  • White ice cubes are normal.
