Top load, Front load or Flex washing machine dead [no power, washer will not turn ON, control panel not lighting up, no display]
PROBLEM:
Top load, Front load or Flex washing machine dead [no power, washer will
not turn ON, control panel not lighting up, no display]
SOLUTION:
When an appliance is dead,
it is usually a problem with the power source.
Please perform the following
steps:
1. Was the unit
working before or was it recently installed? (less than 30 days)
Newly
installed washer (less than 30 days):
please report this issue to the dealer and call installer to verify the installation.
Unit
was working before: Follow the steps
below:
a) Is the washer power outlet accessible?
If not, skip to step
2.
b) Please unplug the unit and inspect
the power cord for damage.
Note:
If the power cord is damaged, service
is required.
c) Is it a surge protector power
outlet? If YES,
please reset it and test (see picture below)
Note:
If the surge protector power outlet was tripped, it could be an issue with the
power outlet itself, ask customer to call an electrician if it happens again.
d) Now, use a phone charger or small
lamp to test if 120 Volts are present at the power outlet (applies to all 120V
power outlets and extension cords)
e) If no power is detected, please
ask customer to call an electrician.
f) If power is detected, before
plugging back the machine, press
and hold the power button for
at least 10 seconds (to reset the circuit board), then plug the unit to the
power outlet to test.
g) If it still doesn't power ON,
then service is required.
2. Locating the electrical panel
a) Please locate the electrical
panel, is it a circuit breaker or fuse panel?
Note:
If it's a fuse panel, please
ask customer to call an electrician.
Fuse Panel
Circuit Breaker Panel
b) For
circuit breaker, verify if the
laundry room has its own dedicated circuit labelled. If
it's properly labelled, you might notice that the switch is not completely ON
or OFF, instead it's in between, turn it ON/OFF 3 times. If
not labelled, please ask customer to reset every 15 and 20 amps switches (turn
OFF/ON to reset). If the washer still doesn't power ON,
please ask customer to call an electrician.
