Question:
Why is my washer filling with the wrong water
temperature?
Answer:
There could be several reasons for this issue.
Please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem:
Check the cycle selection: Verify which cycle
was chosen when the washer filled with incorrect water temperature. If the Normal
or Heavy Duty cycle was selected, know that these cycles are designed to reduce
power consumption and might fill with both cold and hot water. Hot temperature
is similar to bath-water temperature, while Warm temperature is like comfortable
swimming pool temperature.
Understand the cycle limitations:
Ensure the selected cycle supports the desired water temperature. Refer to the
user manual for more information on cycle options.
Inspect water supply valves: Make
sure the hot and cold water supply valves are fully open.
Check water hose connections: Confirm
that the water supply hoses are correctly connected - "C" or blue
connects to cold, while "H" or orange connects to hot.
Clean inlet filter screens:
Disconnect the inlet water hoses and clean the filter screens. A clogged hot
water inlet filter screen might prevent hot water from entering the machine,
causing it to fill with the wrong temperature.
Check the water heater setting: Ensure
the water heater is set to around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
Evaluate water heater capacity:
If your home has a small water heater and there is high demand for hot water
(e.g., someone is taking a shower or the dishwasher is running), the hot water
supply may be depleted. Allow 20-30 minutes for the hot water supply to be replenished.
Terms:
ATC - Auto Temperature Control (a feature in
some washing machines that automatically adjusts the water temperature based
on the cycle selected).
