PROBLEM 1:
Samsung phone reboots repeatedly
SOLUTION :
Third-party apps can cause random or constant reboots to happen on your phone. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue. You can perform a software update, factory reset, or turn on Safe mode to determine if an app is causing the issue.
- Perform a software update on the phone. To download an update, you must be connected to the internet. On your device, go to Settings, tap Software update (or System updates), and then tap Download and install. If an update is available, use the on-screen prompts to update your device. After the update, your device may restart. Make sure your device has enough space if you're having trouble downloading the update. Also check if the phone is connected to the internet and charged more than 50 percent before installing a software update.
- Reboot the phone in Safe mode. Certain downloaded apps can make your phone freeze, crash, or lag. Some apps can even affect camera functionality, cause audio issues, and affect network connectivity. Reboot your device in Safe mode, uninstall any suspicious third-party apps, and then see if the problem persists.
- Perform a factory data reset on your phone.
Warning: You may need your Samsung account password or Lock screen password when resetting your device. All of your data will be erased. However, before resetting your device, you can use Smart Switch or a cloud account to back up your data onto an SD card or USB drive. If you have encrypted your SD card, it must be decrypted before resetting your device.
Before you reset the phone:
- Make sure to back up your phone. All data and settings will be erased.
- Write down the username and password for the account that you used to back up your data.
- We recommend having your phone plugged into the wall charger during the reset process because it may take up to an hour.
- If you have an SD card, make sure to decrypt your card before the reset. Navigate to Settings, search for and select SD, and then tap Decrypt SD card.
When you're ready, navigate to Settings. Search for and select Factory data reset. Tap Factory data reset again, and then tap Reset. Use the on-screen prompts to complete the reset. You may need to enter your Samsung account password or Lock screen password. The phone will reboot.
Once the device has been reset, do the initial setup and then see if the problem continues.
