When I double tap on an empty space on the Home or Lock screen, the screen turns off

Question:

Why does my screen turn off when I double tap on an empty space on the Home or Lock screen?

Answer:

This is due to a new feature called "Double tap to sleep" introduced in Android 11 (also known as R OS). By default, this feature is turned on, which means that tapping twice on an empty space on the Home or Lock screen will automatically put your device's screen to sleep.

If you find this feature inconvenient, you can easily turn it off by following these steps:

Go to Settings on your device.

Navigate to Advanced features.

Select Motions and gestures.

Disable the Double tap to sleep option.
