  1. Phone dust and water resistance rating (IP rating)

Problem

Customer wants to know about their phone's dust and water resistance rating (IP rating).

Solution

* Explain what an IP rating is - It stands for Ingress Protection rating and measures how protected a phone is against dust and liquids like water.

* Share that most newer Samsung phones have an IP rating of 68, which means they're very good at keeping out dust and water. However, some models like the Galaxy Fold, Z Flip, and S10 5G don't have this rating.

* List phones with IP68 rating - S20, S10e, S8, Note9, Note20, Note10, Note8, S7, S9, and S10 5G (with IP69 rating). The Galaxy Fold, Z Flip, and Z Flip 5G aren't rated.

* Give tips for handling your phone around water and dust:

  • Dry it well with a clean, soft cloth if it gets wet. Avoid exposing it to salt water or ionized water.
  • Wash the phone with fresh water if it comes into contact with salt water, then dry it well.
  • Pat the earpiece, microphone, speaker, and USB port with a clean cloth to remove water.
  • Air-dry the phone before calling after it got wet; water in the microphone might affect the volume.
  • Physical damage reduces the phone's resistance to dust and water.
  • Wipe the S Pen with a dry cloth if it gets wet, and gently shake the phone to remove water from the S Pen slot before use. Ensure both are dry before inserting the S Pen.
