Question:

After updating my phone's operating system to Android 11 (R OS), the swipe gestures in the navigation bar are not working correctly compared to before. What happened?

Answer:

In Android 11, the gesture recognition area has been updated to reduce accidental touches on the keyboard. With gesture hints turned off, the gesture area was modified to avoid issues like closing the keyboard when using gestures near the bottom of the screen, where the app interface and gesture area might overlap. By turning on gesture hints and using them, the recognition area becomes wider, allowing for more accurate gesture control.

To enable or disable gesture hints:

Go to Settings

Tap Display

Select Navigation Bar

Find and tap Gesture Hints
