Secure Folder on your Galaxy phone

PROBLEM 1:

Set up and add files to the Secure Folder

SOLUTION 1:

With Secure Folder, you can hide your personal data that you would like to keep private, such as your photos, videos, files, and apps. The folder is protected by Samsung Knox security platform to ensure that your information is safe from malicious attacks. You can also add a passcode or biometric lock to keep your data safe from prying eyes.

Note: The Secure Folder is a function running on Android Nougat 7.0 operating systems and above. If you are using an older device or operating system, you can keep your information private by using Private Mode.

1. To set up Secure Folder, navigate to Settings, and then search for and select Secure Folder under Biometrics and security. Tap Secure Folder, and then tap Agree.

2. If needed, sign in to your Samsung account, and then tap OK. You will be prompted to set up a security method like a PIN, password, or pattern for accessing Secure Folder.

3. Tap Next and read the on-screen instructions to set up your passcode and access to your Secure Folder.

4. After Secure Folder is set up, tap Add apps (the plus sign). Tap a desired app to put in the folder, and then tap Add. You will see a copy of the app in your Secure Folder.

5. Tap Add files and then select the file source or type. Select your desired files, and then tap Done. Enter your Secure Folder security credentials, and then tap either Copy or Move.

Note: Files need to be saved in your internal storage or your SD card to be moved to Secure Folder. Files saved on your cloud account can not be moved to Secure Folder.

PROBLEM 2:

Hide the Secure Folder

SOLUTION 2:

You can hide the Secure Folder if you do not want anyone else seeing it.

Using two fingers, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel. Swipe to and tap the Secure Folder icon to hide or unhide the app.

On the other hand, you can keep the Secure Folder in plain sight by changing its name or icon. Navigate to and open Secure Folder, and then enter your security credentials. Tap More options, and then tap Customize. From here, you can change the app name and icon. When you are done, tap Apply.
