Question:
Why are the files (image, video) shared through
a third-party chatting app not showing up on my Gallery? What can I do to fix
this issue?
Answer:
To display the shared files in the Gallery,
follow these steps:
Check the relevant option on the chatting app:
Ensure that the media visibility option is turned on within the settings of
the chatting application. For instance, in WhatsApp, navigate to WhatsApp >
Tap More Options > Settings > Chats > Turn on "Media Visibility."
Delete any hidden system files affecting the
issue: If the shared files still do not appear despite having the correct settings,
it's necessary to remove any related system files that might be causing the
problem. In My Files, go to More Options > Settings > Turn on "Show
Hidden System Files" and look for a file named ".nomedia" in
the following path: /Android/media/com.whatsapp/WhatsApp/Media/.nomedia
Close and reopen the Gallery app: After deleting
the .nomedia file, use the Recent Apps button to close the Gallery app completely,
then relaunch it.
Terms:
.nomedia - A special file used by Android devices
to exclude certain media from being displayed in Gallery apps. When present
in a folder, the Gallery app ignores all media within that folder, including
images and videos.
