Question:

My TV screen has a dot, air bubble, foreign material, or a plus (+) sign in the corner. Is this normal?

Answer:

Yes, it's normal. During the manufacturing process, some TVs may have a small dot or plus sign ("+") in the corners of the screen. This marking helps align the layers of the screen correctly and ensures quality. When the TV is turned on, this mark is typically not noticeable.

Symptom

  • Some users might notice a little dot or a sign, usually in the corners of the TV. If you look carefully at the corners of the TV, you might find a small mark which looks like a dot or a plus sign ("+ ") as shown on the pictures below:

Background/Cause

  • This is a mark on the Open cell which is normal and it is common to most manufacturers. Often when users remove the protective film of their TV screen, they notice the dot and might assume their TV is faulty.

Solution

  • Please explain to the user that this dot/plus sign is NOT an air bubble or foreign material. It is completely normal and it won't be visible when the TV is ON.
  • The sign is used to mark the corners of the TV set, so the layers of the screen are aligned correctly in the manufacturing process.
