Question:

Why isn't my remote control working after registering my TV SmartThings App device? Especially, when I operate my TV after using another device registered in SmartThings like an air conditioner, it doesn't work.

Answer:

Symptom:

  • Remote control does not work after registering TV SmartThings App device
    • In particular, if you operate the TV after operating another device registered in SmartThings (EX : Air conditioner), it does not work.

Background/Cause:

  • IR device signal detection operation error occurs after registering TV SmartThings App.
  • SW issue occurs in the process of comparing the existing IR code with the new IR code.

Solution:

The App version with improved SW code will be updated soon (W28)

Until then, please follow the temporary countermeasure below.

  • Press the TV remote control Home button or turn off the TV power and turn on the TV again (press Power button).
    • The SW issue can be solved in the process of turning off and on the TV
  • Check 'No new device notification' in TV SmartThings App
    • Home > Menu > Connected Device > SmartThings > Setting > About SmartThings > Do not receive new device notifications.
    •

Note: If you're not familiar with technical terms, here's a quick guide:

SW: Some kind of signal check that helps devices talk to each other.

App: Short for application, which means a program on your phone or TV.
