Remove hard-water buildup from Samsung washer
No title

If you have hard water buildup in your Samsung washing machine, it will appear as white residue. The best way to prevent hard water buildup is to use a water softener or a home filter. In the meantime, you can clean your washing machine to ensure the white residue does not transfer onto your clothing.

What is hard water?

Hard water contains high amounts of minerals like calcium and magnesium that build up over time and can leave a scaly, white residue. Most homes in Canada have hard water, which leads to grime and residue on the washing machines interior, drum, and filters.

You can purchase a water softener or a home filter to help with this issue. With one of these, you will have soft water throughout your house.

Clean your washing machine

Periodically cleaning your washing machine will help to remove hard water buildup. The following steps can be used for both front load and top load washing machines.

  1. Empty the washing machine, and then pour four cups of white vinegar into the tub.
  2. Run the longest and hottest wash cycle with no detergent.
  3. Once the cycle is complete, clean the inside of the washer with a sponge.
  4. Then, run the washing machine one more time with water and no detergent. This will remove the leftover vinegar.
    • Note: If you have a top load washer, you can stop the cycle halfway, then scrub the inside and dispensers with a toothbrush or sponge, and then resume the cycle.
