There is no longer an option to reset my phone number and the change phone number menu has disappeared. How can I change my phone number for two-step verification?

 

Answer:

The user interface for the two-step verification method has been updated. To change or add a phone number for two-step verification, you can do this either on your mobile device or on a PC that is logged into your Samsung account. Remember to log in to your Samsung Account first before making any changes.

 

To change/add a phone number on your mobile device:

 

Go to Settings.

Tap Accounts and backup.

Select Manage accounts.

Choose Samsung Account.

Click on My profile.

Tap Security and privacy.

Select Two-step verification.

Enter your account ID and password when prompted.

Under Verification methods, tap Text message.

Click on Add.

Input your new phone number and enter the code sent to you.

Click Done.

 

To change/add a phone number on a PC:

 

Visit the Samsung Account website (www.account.samsung.com).

Log in to your account.

Click on Security.

Enter your password when prompted.

Navigate to Password and security.

Select Two-step verification.

Click on Text message.

Click on Edit personal information.

Click [Add phone number].

Register your phone number.

 

You can change your phone number for two-step verification while logged in to your Samsung Account. It's also a good idea to register recovery options like a recovery email and phone number beforehand, in case you ever lock yourself out of your account.

 

Make sure you're logged in to your Samsung account on your device or any other devices where you've previously logged in with your Samsung account. If you have another device logged in to your Samsung account, try using the 'Verify with Galaxy device' (on webpage) or 'Verify with another Galaxy device' (on mobile device) option to proceed with two-step verification.

 

In case a notification comes to another device:

If the same account is logged in to another Galaxy device, you'll receive a notification containing the verification code on that device.
