Question:

After updating to One UI 5.1 (T OS), Samsung Video app does not restore properly when backing up/restoring from an old device to a new device using Smart Switch. How can this issue be resolved?

Answer:

Starting with Android T OS, Samsung Video app was updated to its latest version (v1.4.21.88 or later) due to changes in One UI 5.0 (T OS) following the implementation of a new Google policy. When attempting to back up/restore data via Smart Switch, if the Samsung Video app on the old device is not the latest version (v1.4.21.88 or higher), the new device running Android T OS will prompt a link to download the latest Samsung Video app from the Galaxy Store.

To resolve this issue, first verify that the old device has an older version of the Samsung Video app (v1.4.21.84 or lower). If so, update the Samsung Video app to the latest version (v1.4.21.88 or later) on the old device before attempting to back up/restore data through Smart Switch.

  • Affected app version : Samsung Video app v1.4.21.84 or earlier version
  • Fixed app version : Samsung Video app v1.4.21.88 or later version
