Question

Why does my friend's SmartThings app not show my permission changes right away after I update them?

Answer

The newest version of SmartThings app (version 1.8.01.xx for Android and 1.7.01.xx for iPhone) has a new permission setting called "Control devices only" for people who are invited to join. But when someone who is in charge (called location manager) makes changes to another person's permission, those changes don't show up instantly on their phone. So, they may still see the old settings.

What you can do is ask your friend to close their SmartThings app and then open it again. This will refresh the app and show the correct settings based on the most recent changes made by the person in charge (location manager).

Right now, they're working on making the changes show up instantly. Once they finish, everyone using SmartThings will need to use the latest version of the app to get these improvements.

Remember: If the person in charge (location manager) chooses the "Control devices only" option for your friend, some things might disappear from view. Changing the permission back to "Full access" will bring everything back.
