Ice Maker is Not Working (not producing cubes or crushed ice, ice melting and leaking, ice maker jammed, ice maker leaking, not dispensing, bin/bucket stuck)

Answer

Kindly follow the below steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1) Is the control panel locked (child lock)?

  • Ask customer to press the fridge or freezer button and if it doesn't work, the control panel could be locked.
  • Holding "Control Lock" for 3 seconds should unlock the control panel, if not, refer to the user manual to find out how to unlock the control panel.

2) Is the ice maker turned ON?

  • Depending on the model, the ice maker button could be located on the control panel or settings for family hub models, make sure it's ON.
  • If the "Ice Maker Off" button is illuminated, it means the ice maker is off.

 3)  Was the waterline recently installed (less than 30 days)?

  • If yes, customer must call installer to check the water line and tap

4) Was the water filter replaced recently?

  • If yes, ask customer if water dispenser is working, if not the filter might be wrongly installed, or wrong filter entirely.
  • Water filter should be in the locked position to function.

5).  Is the ice maker producing a small ice cubes or no ice at all?

  • Small ice cubes indicates a low water pressure issue.

6) Is there a water dispenser on this model?

  • If yes, please ask customer to fill up a glass of water to test the water pressure.
  • 1 glass of water should not take longer than 20 seconds to fill.
  • If it does, then customer must call installer or a plumber to check the water tube and tap, the water pressure should be at least 30 PSI.

7) Any Error Code?

  • Ice Maker Related Error Codes (8C, 14C, 15C, 20C, 26C, 33C, 39C, 40C, 61C, 65C, 74C, 75C, 116C, 117C, 118C)

8) Is the ice maker located in the freezer or in the ice room on the top left of the fresh food compartment?

  • If the ice maker is located in the freezer, then skip to section B below, if not proceed to the next question.

A) Ice maker located in Fresh food compartment:

9) Is the ice bin and left door closing properly?

  • If not, book a service call.

10) Is the ice bin stuck and fresh food section not cooling properly?

  • If yes, book a service call (ice maker bulletin applies to models up to 2019 and is covered under warranty for ice maker repair kit).
  • See Service Bulletin Number: ASC20170602002

Note: Unless the temperature is below -15C, the ice maker wont harvest ice.

B) Ice maker located in Freezer:

11) Is there anything under the ice maker, other than the original ice bin?

  • Only the bin should be placed under the ice maker, anything interfering with the ice maker will prevent it from producing ice.

12) Is the freezer door closing properly?

  • If the door is not closing properly, the ice maker won't work.
  • Ask customer to empty the freezer, unplug the refrigerator and let it defrost for 5 hours with the freezer door open and do not overload the freezer.

Note: Unless the temperature is below -15C, the ice maker wont harvest ice.
