Question:
What does the "tE4" or "tC4"
error code mean on my PCB and how can I resolve it?
Answer:
The "tE4" or "tC4" error
code indicates a PCB Temperature Error. This means that either the temperature
of the Intelligent Power Modules (IPM) on the PCB main is abnormal, or the thermistor
of the PCB main is defective. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Check IPM temperatures: Use a thermal
camera or infrared thermometer to check the temperatures of the IPMs on
the PCB main. Ensure they are within their normal operating range.
- Test thermistor: Connect a multimeter
to the thermistor and measure its resistance. If the resistance is outside
the expected range, the thermistor may be faulty and requires replacement.
- Clean contacts: Inspect and clean any
dirty or corroded contacts between the IPMs and the PCB main. This can sometimes
cause false temperature readings.
- Replace components: If necessary, replace
any faulty IPMs or thermistors found during the troubleshooting process.
- Reassemble and test: After making all
necessary repairs, reassemble the device and test for proper functioning.
