Question
My Sleep score or quality in Samsung Health's
Sleep was Bad. How did the watch not detect signs of sleep apnea?
Answer 1
If user's Samsung Health version is confirmed
to be v6.28 or lower from the log data or question
Samsung Health's Sleep score or quality does
not use blood oxygen measurements (sleep stage information is used), but Samsung
Health Monitor's Sleep apnea feature tracks how many relative decreases in blood
oxygen you have during sleep to detect signs of sleep apnea. Therefore, the
measurement results from the two apps are not related to each other. Please
refer to the information provided within Samsung Health Monitor app based on
the detection result of sleep apnea risk. Even if the watch didn't detect signs
of sleep apnea, if you are experiencing below symptoms, contact your doctor.
Common symptoms of sleep apnea:
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Loud snoring
- Periods when you stop breathing during
sleep (often reported by another person)
- Waking up gasping or choking
- Waking up with a dry mouth or sore throat
- Morning headaches
- Trouble concentrating during the day
- Increased irritability
Not everyone who has sleep apnea has all
these symptoms.
Answer 2
If user's Samsung Health version can't be confirmed,
or confirmed to be v6.29 or higher from the log data or question
The measurement results from the two apps are
affected by blood oxgen saturation levels, but in different ways in each app.
Samsung Health's Blood oxygen saturation reflected in Sleep score is the ratio
of oxygen saturation values below 90% compared to total sleep. Blood oxygen
saturation information used for the Sleep apnea feature is frequency of relative
decreases in blood oxygen level. Therefore, the measurement results from the
two apps are not related to each other. Please refer to the information provided
within Samsung Health Monitor app based on the detection result of sleep apnea
risk. Even if the watch didn't detect signs of sleep apnea, if you are experiencing
below symptoms, contact your doctor.
