After updating the SmartThings app, my phone 
keeps restarting.

that the phenomenon is being caused by a repeated restarting originating from 
the SmartThings app. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.  
If you have experienced any inconvenience, 
please visit your nearest Samsung service center for further assistance in order 
to receive an appropriate solution for the problem. 
  
Samsung will provide a One-time Warranty Allownace 
for this repair,

Note: Models affected are rebooting. Customer 
cannot back up data prior to service.

however, certain repairs will require a complete factory reset of the device.
