QUESTION:

Does my unit use CFCs?

What type of refrigerant does my refrigerator use?

Do I ever need to add refrigerant to my refrigerator?

ANSWER:

Your Samsung fridge does not use CFCs. In the past, CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) - commonly known as Freon - were a compound used in refrigeration. CFCs were considered harmful to the environment and are no longer used in modern cooling systems. Samsung fridges use a refrigerant known as R-134a.

Samsung uses a refrigerant known as R-134a. CFCs (known commonly as Freon) were considered harmful to the environment and are no longer used in modern cooling systems.

You don't need to add refrigerant to your fridge because Samsung's cooling systems are closed systems. If your unit is experiencing cooling issues, consult the "Temperature > Not Cooling" troubleshooting section in the Decision Tree. If troubleshooting doesn't work, your unit needs evaluation by a technician.
