No Water

PROBLEM 1:

No Water From the Water Dispenser

General Diagnosis

When the water dispenser does not dispense water, it is usually caused by one of the following conditions:

  • The Water feature is turned off.

  • Child Lock or Control Lock is turned on.

  • You have air in your water line.

  • Your refrigerator water line is not turned on.

  • Your water filter needs to be replaced.

  • Your water line is kinked.

  • Refrigerator temperature is too low. Increase the refrigerator temperature to 3C (38F).

SOLUTION 1A:

Check If Water and Child Lock Is On

In order to dispense water from the fridge, the Water function needs to be selected. If Cubed Ice or Crushed Ice is selected, no water will dispense. Press the Water icon to switch to water.

Water may also not dispense if Child Lock or Control Lock is enabled. To turn this feature off, touch and hold the Child/Control Lock icon for 3 seconds.

SOLUTION 1B:

Air In The Water Line

To clear air out from your fridge's water line, please perform the following:

  • Please hold down the water dispenser lever for 5 minutes.

  • If your fridge was recently installed, please dispense 19 to 23 liters (5 to 6 gallons) of water through the dispenser, which will purge the remaining air from the line.

SOLUTION 1C:

Water Line Is Not Turned On

If you think the water line is off, please follow these steps:

  1. Carefully pull your fridge away from the wall.

  2. Locate the water line on the back of the refrigerator.

  3. Trace the line to where it connects to your house water supply.

  4. Find the small shut-off valve at the connection.

  5. Open the valve and turn the water line on.

SOLUTION 1D:

The Water Filter Needs To Be Replaced

If the water filter is not installed correctly, it can block the flow of water. To change the water filter, please follow these steps:

  1. First, please make sure that your water line is turned off.

  2. Remove the top glass shelf from your refrigerator.

  3. To remove the old water filter, please turn the filter counterclockwise 90 degrees until its Unlock symbol lines up with Water Filter mark on the filter holder. The Unlock symbol looks like an open padlock.

Note: Apply slow, steady pressure when you turn the water filter. It may seem difficult at times, but this ensures a tight seal.

  4. Please place the new filter into the water filter holder. Make sure the Unlock symbol lines up with the Water Filter mark.

  5. Please turn the filter counterclockwise 90 degrees until its Lock symbol lines up with Water Filter mark on the filter holder. The Lock symbol looks like a closed padlock. If the arrow and padlock line are not lined up, water will not flow to the dispenser.

Note: Apply slow, steady pressure when you turn the water filter. It may seem difficult at times, but this ensures a tight seal.

  6. Turn on the water line and check for leaks.

SOLUTION 1E:

Water Line Is Kinked

If you think the water line may be kinked, please follow these steps:

  1. Please carefully slide your fridge away from the wall.

  2. Inspect the water line and see if it is kinked.

  3. If it is, please unkink the line and check for holes or damage to the line.

  4. As long as the line does NOT have holes, you can prevent future kinking by wrapping duct tape around the kinked area.

  5. Please carefully slide your fridge back into place.

SOLUTION 1F:

Refrigerator Temperature Is Too Low

If your fridge is not producing water, it could be because your fridge's temperature is too low.

  • Please check your fridge's temperature.

  • If your refrigerator's temperature is around 1C (34F), it may be too cold and is causing the water in the reservoir to freeze.

  • Please raise the temperature to 3C (38F) and wait approximately 24 for the temperature to stabilize.

PROBLEM 2:

Water Dispenses Slowly

General Diagnosis

Slow water can be caused by the following:

  • A kinked water line.

  • Low household water pressure.

  • Water line to the refrigerator is not open fully.

  • Replace the water filter.

SOLUTION 2A:

Water Line Is Kinked

If you think the water line may be kinked, please follow these steps:

  1. Please carefully slide your fridge away from the wall.

  2. Inspect the water line and see if it is kinked.

  3. If it is, please unkink the line and check for holes or damage to the line.

  4. As long as the line does NOT have holes, you can prevent future kinking by wrapping duct tape around the kinked area.

  5. Please carefully slide your fridge back into place.

SOLUTION 2B:

Low Household Water Pressure

If the water pressure is low, it could be causing the water to come out slowly.

  • Your fridge requires the water pressure to be at least 30 psi. Most city water is around 60 psi.

  • However, filtering systems such as reverse osmosis can significantly reduce water pressure.

  • If you have low water pressure, you may need a booster pump to get your water pressure to the appropriate level.

SOLUTION 2C:

Water Line Is Not Fully Open

If the water line is not fully open, the water can dispense very slowly. If you think the water line is off or not fully opened, please follow these steps:

  1. Carefully pull your fridge away from the wall.

  2. Locate the water line on the back of the refrigerator.

  3. Trace the line to where it connects to your house's water supply.

  4. Find the small shut-off valve at the connection.

  5. Open the valve and turn the water line on.

SOLUTION 2D:

Replace the Water Filter

If the water filter is clogged, or partially clogged, it can restrict water flow at the dispenser. To replace the water filter, please follow these steps:

Apply slow, steady pressure when you turn the water filter.
