Level the Refrigerator

PROBLEMS COVERED

  1. Level the Refrigerator

General Information

  • If your fridge is properly level, its front will rest on the leveling legs and the front wheels will be not in contact with the floor. This helps to prevent potential leak issues, cooling issues, noise issues, and damage.

SOLUTION 1A: Contact Installer If Fridge Is New

If your fridge was installed less than 30 days ago, and the installers did not perform alignment and leveling, please contact them and see if they can level it for you.

SOLUTION 1B: Level The Fridge

If the installer cannot level it for any reason, you will need to check if your fridge is level.

  • Please check if the front of the fridge is resting on the leveling leg.

  • If your fridge IS resting in the leveling leg, then the unit is leveled properly.

If your fridge is NOT resting on the leveling leg and the wheels are touching the floor, the unit will need to be leveled:

  1. Please open the freezer drawer and remove the lower basket.

  2. If your fridge has a kick plate, you may need to remove it in order to easily access the leveling legs.

    • To remove the kick plate, please remove the two attached screws with a Philips screwdriver. Then lift the kick plate up from the bottom and pull it out.

  3. Please insert a flat-blade screwdriver into a notch on one of the leveling legs.

  4. Please use the screwdriver as a lever to rotate the leveling leg clockwise or counterclockwise. Depending on the model, either direction may lower or raise that side the refrigerator.

  5. Raise your fridge as high as it will go.

  6. Please repeat these steps on the other side.

  7. Please use a carpenter's level to make minor adjustments to the leveling legs. This will help you make sure the main body of your fridge is level from left to right. However, do not use the carpenter's level to level the refrigerator front to back because the fridge has a natural slant from front to back.

  8. If a kick plate was removed, please reattach it.

NOTE
If you need to move your fridge, please lower the refrigerator off the leveling legs and back onto the prevent damage to the floor. Re-level the refrigerator after you have moved it to your desired location.

SOLUTION 1C: Check That The Fridge Is Level

To check that your fridge is level, please perform the following:

  • Please make sure the front wheels are no longer in contact with the floor.

  • Please make sure the full weight of your fridge is resting on the leveling legs.

  • If these two things are true and the fridge seems level from left to right, the refrigerator is properly leveled.

NOTE
If you think the doors look uneven after you leveled the fridge's main body, please refer to your user manual's section for adjusting the doors.
