PROBLEM 1: When Do I Change The Water Filter In My Refrigerator?

SOLUTION 1A: When To Change Filter

The refrigerator is equipped with a water filter indicator light that reminds you when it is time to replace the water filter.

  • You should replace the water filter every 6 months.

  • When the filter needs to be replaced, filter indicator turns RED.

Notes:

  • If water is not dispensing or dispensing slowly, you need to replace the water filter because the water filter maybe clogged.

  • Some areas have large amounts of lime/calcium in their water, which causes the water filter to clog more quickly.

SOLUTION 1B: What Do The Different Filter Colors Mean?

The indicator light on your filter changes color as time passes. Here is what the different colors mean:

  • Depending on your model, the filter indicator may blue, yellow, or green when it is newly installed and clean.

  • After you use about 270 gallons of water (usually after about 5 months), the filter indicator will change a different color depending on the model. On many models, it turns purple.

  • After you use about 300 gallons of water (usually after about 6 months), the filter indicator will turn red.

PROBLEM 4: Water Filter Location

SOLUTION 4:

The water filter is located in one of two places in your fridge:

  • In the upper right of your refrigerator in the back.

  • Or behind the vegetable bin.

PROBLEM 5: Water Filter Installation

SOLUTION 5:

If you need to install a new water filter, please follow these steps:

1. First, please make sure that your water line is turned off.

2. If your water filter holder is located in the upper right of your refrigerator, remove the top glass shelf from your refrigerator.

3. If your water filter holder is located behind the vegetable bin, remove the vegetable bin from your refrigerator.

4. Place the month sticker on the water filter, so you will know when to replace it.

Note: The month sticker should display the name of the month that is six months away from the current date. It indicates when the water filter should be replaced.

8. Please turn the filter counterclockwise 90 degrees until its Lock symbol lines up with Water Filter mark on the filter holder. The Lock symbol looks like a closed padlock.

PROBLEM 7: Water Filter is Leaking

SOLUTION 7: Check Installation

If your water filter is leaking, it may have been installed incorrectly.

To check for and fix an incorrectly installed water filter, please follow these steps:

1. First, please make sure that your water line is turned off.

2. If the water filter is in the upper right side of your refrigerator, please remove the upper glass shelf.

3. If the water filter is behind the vegetable bin, remove the vegetable bin.

4. Please examine the water filter to see if the LOCK indicator mark on the filter is aligned with the indicator mark on the filter cover. The LOCK indicator mark looks like a closed padlock.

5. If they are not aligned, turn the filter clockwise until the marks line up.

6. Then, please turn on the water line and check for leaks.

7. If there are no leaks, put the shelf or vegetable bin back into the refrigerator.
