Question:

Why is my Samsung refrigerator's water dispenser not cooling the water enough?

Answer:

 General Information

  • Samsung refrigerators with water dispensers have a small reservoir in the refrigerator that stores and cools water, so you can dispense chilled, filtered water.

Customer: The water from the dispenser is not cold enough.

If the water from your fridge is not cold, please perform the following:

  • If your fridge was recently installed, please dispense 19 to 23 liters (5 to 6 gallons) of water through the dispenser. This will help flush the water line and fill the reservoir tank with new water, which should chill within 24 to 48 hours.

  • The temperature of your dispensed water is usually a little warmer than the set temperature of your fridge. This is normal. For example, if your refrigerator's set temperature is 8C (38 F), your dispensed water may be a little warmer than 8C (38 F).
  • Please make sure you are not dispensing too much water at once. If you fill several glasses with water in a short period of time, you could be draining the chilled water from your reservoir tank. The tank will then fill with fresh water straight from the water line, which will be warm because it hasn't had time to chill. If you have dispensed a lot of water, please wait a while before dispensing more, so the new water can cool properly.

  • If your water line is not connected to a cold water source or if the temperature outside is very warm, the water in your reservoir tank will need extra time to cool sufficiently.

*If you have tried these steps and your dispensed water is still too warm, your fridge
requires service.
