Water is Cloudy (Oxygen Bubbles and Mineral Deposits)

Customer: The dispenser water is cloudy.

Answer:

• Water from your fridge is filtered by an alkaline filter. When water is pushed through the filter, pressure builds up and natural oxygen and nitrogen minerals in the water become saturated. When this water is exposed to air, the pressure builds even more and the oxygen and nitrogen become even more saturated, causing them to turn into gas bubbles. The water may look misty due to these oxygen bubbles. After a few seconds, the water will look clear.
  
  
• Cloudiness in your water can also be created by minerals deposits. Many homes in North America have hard water, which is water with a large amount of minerals, like calcium. These minerals are harmless, but could build up in your water supply and create a cloudy or chalky appearance.
  
  
• Make sure to change your filter at least every 6 six months to prevent cloudiness or mineral buildup. After installing the new filter, flush the system by dispensing approximately 19 to 23 liters (5-6 gallons) of water.
