Understanding the energy saving function

Issue:

Customer is complaining about water leaking from the fridge

Symptoms:

- There is condensation around the Mullion bar between the two fridge doors

- There is water on the side of the fridge door gasket and/or on the top of the freezer door gasket

- There is water on the floor below the side of the freezer door

 

Principle:

For all of the French door fridges, there is a French heater (Mullion bar) attached between those two fridge doors.

The function of the French heater is not only to seal the gap between the two fridge doors, but also to warm up the side edge of the door gaskets to prevent condensation build up around that area. This heater is controlled by Energy Saver Button.

By default all of the French door fridges have Energy Saver Mode enabled, which means that when the Energy Saver Icon is lit on the display panel, the French heater is off and there will be no warming function from the "Mullion bar" Therefore, the Energy Saver Mode works as below:

- Energy Saver Icon ON means that the French Heater is OFF, the Mullion bar is not warm

- Energy Saver Icon OFF means that the French Heater is ON , the Mullion bar is warm to prevent condensation built up

Customer guide:

Energy Saver Mode is enabled by default, which means the Energy Saver Mode will be set to "ON" each time the power reboots (such as after a power failure) even though the mode has been turned off previously.

Customer needs to check and turn off the Energy Saver Mode by simply pressing the "Energy Saver" button especially during the summer.

Solution:

Make sure to verify with the customer whether the Energy Saver Mode is "ON ". If yes, Turn OFF the Energy Saver Mode, no need to dispatch service.
