I See The Splash Screen But When Windows Loads I Recieve The Error Message
Cyber

Question:

Why am I getting the "Mode Not Supported" message when booting my computer?

Answer:

If you are able to see the splash screen while the PC boots up but when windows loads you receive the "Mode Not Supported" message there are two main causes for this:

  • Your laptop's output resolution is not supported.
  • Your video card drivers are not supported.

To change the resolution of your laptop:

  1. Change your resolution from your control panel. Depending on the display mode that you have your laptop set to you will need to change the resolution differently
    • Mirrored/Cloned Mode: Set your resolution to 1024 x 768 at 60hz, this resolution sould be supported by both your laptop and your television. If you are still experiencing an error continue troubleshooting below.
    • External/Presentation Mode: Return the display to your laptop (using your Fn and F key) and adjust the resolution to 1024 x 768 at 60hz. Return the display to your television. If you are still experiencing an error continue troubleshooting below.
    • Extended Desktop/Dual Screen Mode: Select the second monitor in the setting portion of the display properties. Set the resolution to 1024 x 768 at 60hz of the number 2 monitor. If you are still experiencing an error continue troubleshooting below.

After Adjusting The Resolution I Still Receive The Error Message.

If you are still receiving the error message then your video card drivers will need to be updated. Download the latest drivers for your video card from it's manufacturers website. After installing the latest drivers restart your laptop and test with your TV again.
