PROBLEM:

Fridge Not Cooling (fresh food section no cool, compartment not cold)

SOLUTION:

1. Is there an error code on the display?

* If your display reads "O-FF" ("OF or OFF"), your fridge is in Cooling Off Mode, also known as Demo Mode or Shop Mode (refer to the user manual)

2. Is the fresh food section not cooling properly or not cooling at all?

* If not cooling at all, book a service call and meanwhile ask the customer to unplug the fridge for 1 hour and plug it back to see if it starts working again.

3. Is the fridge cavity wall and ceiling moist inside?

* If the doors are not closing properly, condensation will form on the ceiling, ask customer to inspect the door gaskets and make sure nothing on the shelves are preventing the door from closing.

4. Is the fridge temperature set to 38 degrees Fahrenheit or 3 degrees Celsius?

* If the set temperature is higher than 38 degrees F or 3 degrees C, ask customer to set it to 38 degree F or 3 degrees C or lower and wait 24 hours.

5. Is there anything blocking the top air vent (above the top shelf)?

* The evaporator fan circulates cold air through the vents, if blocked the fridge wont cool properly (especially the top vent).

Customer Education:

NOTE: If customer is complaining about food spoiling faster than usual, please try the following:

  • Please do not place food that expires quickly (such as milk or eggs) near the doors. Exposure to warm air (when the doors are open) may cause them to expire faster.
  • Please make sure that your fridge is not overfilled with too many items. If there is too much food stored inside your fridge, it can prevent the air from circulating properly.
  • Check if there is a large amount of hot food items stored in your fridge. Hot food can slow cooling because your fridge will need to work harder to cool the items down.
  • Please make sure your fridge doors were not left open for an extended period of time. If the doors are left open, warm outside air will enter your fridge and cold air will exit. Please close the doors, make sure they are fully shut, and wait a while for the temperature to drop. In general, please try not to open the doors too frequently.
  • If your refrigerator is in direct sunlight or located near a heat source, this may be heating up your fridge and preventing it from cooling properly. If this is the case, please move the refrigerator if you can. If you cannot move it, lower the temperature in your refrigerator and freezer to make up for the extra heat.
  • Make sure that both the freezer and refrigerator are about half full. The refrigerator will not cool properly when empty. When your fridge is mostly empty, all the cold air escapes when the doors are opened. This can change dramatically temperature of the compartment. When the refrigerator is mostly full, not only does less cold air escape, but the items in your fridge help cool the warm air faster.
  • If the temperature outside the refrigerator is warmer (such as in the summer months), please set the refrigerator cooler to help compensate.
  • Make sure the fridge has at least 2 inches of clearance behind it and on its sides. If not, the condenser will have difficulty getting the heat it removes from the refrigerator.
  • Keep food in containers. This will this help keep moisture levels down, and it will also help keep things organized, which will limit the amount of time the doors are opened.
