Subject: The Television
Info Banner Appears When Changing Channels On A STB
Question:
Why does the TV info banner appear every time
the channel is changed on a STB? What can be done about it?
Answer:
There are two main reasons why the TV info
banner appears when changing channels on a STB:
The STB temporarily drops its video signal
during channel changes, causing the TV to attempt displaying a "No Signal"
message. However, the STB starts outputting the signal again before the TV can
show the error message, leading to the info banner appearing instead.
The STB outputs different resolutions each
time the channel is changed. This causes the TV to detect a signal quality change
and display the info banner as an alert.
To address this issue, consider the following
solutions:
a. Switch from HDMI to component cables.
b. Request your service provider to exchange
the current STB for one with updated firmware.
c. Set the STB's output resolution to a fixed
mode (e.g., 1080i or 720p).
