The Melody Plays When The TV Comes On, But Not When You Turn It Off
Cyber

Question:

Why doesn't the melody play when turning off the TV? What should I do to fix this issue?

Answer:

The Melody does not play when you turn the TV off for one of the following reasons:

  • The Internal Mute is turned on
  • The Volume is turned all of the way down or muted.

To determine which troubleshooting path to take, turn the TV on, and then press [Volume +] on the TV remote. You will see either:

  • A "Not Available" message on the TV screen.
  • The Volume Circle on the TV screen.

Instructions for each scenario are below.

A "Not Available" message on the TV screen

If you see a Not Available message, you have the "Speaker Select" option set to "External Speaker".

To return audio to the television's internal speakers, follow these steps:

  1. With the TV on, press MENU, and then press ▼ arrow to highlight the Sound Menu.
  2. Note: The Sub-Menu's name is displayed on the left side of the menu.

  1. Press ENTER, and then press ▼ arrow to "Speaker Select".
  2. Press ENTER. A box will appear with options for "TV Speaker" and "External Speaker".
  3. Press ▼ arrow to highlight TV Speaker, and then press ENTER.
  4. Press EXIT to exit the menu.
  5. Press POWER to turn the TV off and check for the melody

The Volume Circle on the TV screen

If you see the Volume Circle on the TV screen, you have the volume turned all the way down or muted.

To turn the volume up, follow these steps:

  1. With the TV on, press [Volume +] so the volume level is higher than zero (0).
  2. Press [Power] on the TV remote to turn the TV off. The Off Melody sounds.
