Question:
Why
isn't my remote control working?
Answer:
Your remote control will not work
under the following conditions:
- The
batteries are dead or defective.
- There is an electronic glitch in the
remote.
- The remote control is defective.
- The TV has a defective remote control
sensor.
To determine which of these conditions
is causing your problem, follow these steps:
- Open the battery compartment on the
back of the remote and remove both batteries.
- Press and hold any button on the
remote for 20 seconds. This discharges the remote and can fix minor electronic
glitches.
Note: Discharging the remote will remove any stored
remote codes used to control other devices. If you wish to control other
devices with this remote, you must set the remote codes after completing
this step. - Release the button and reinsert the
batteries and the battery cover. Make sure to insert the
batteries properly. Test the remote to see if it is working properly now.
- If the remote works, there was a
glitch in the remote that was cleared when you discharged the remote.
- If the remote does not work, continue troubleshooting by following
the steps below.
- Replace the batteries in the remote
with new batteries. Make sure to insert the new batteries
properly. Test the remote to
see if it is working properly now.
- If the remote works, your
original batteries are dead or defective. Continue using with the new batteries.
- If the
remote does not work, there may be something wrong with the remote or with the
remote control sensor on the TV. To further test your remote control and the TV remote
control sensor, continue on to the next section, "Testing Your
Remote Control and Remote Sensor".
