Question:
How
to troubleshoot missing channels on my TV?
Answer:
Subject: Missing
Some Channels
The
two most common missing channel problems are:
- You
only get
channels 2 through 13
- You
are missing random
channels
Both
issues can be corrected by performing an Auto Program.
To
receive all of your channels, follow these steps:
- Connect an antenna or
direct cable line to the coax (RF) input on the back of your TV.

- With the TV on, press MENU
on your remote to bring up the Main Menu. Then,
press the down arrow to select the Channel Menu, and then press ENTER.
Important:
If the Channel Menu is greyed out, you must
exit the menu and then press the TV button on your remote to set
your TV to the proper input.

- Press the down
arrow to select Auto Program,
and then press ENTER.

-
Press the up
or down arrow to highlight
either Air or Cable, and then press
ENTER. If you selected Air, continue to Step 7. If you selected Cable,
continue to Step 5.
- Press the up
or down arrow to highlight
STD, HRC, or IRC, and then press ENTER. Repeat for digital channels.
Note: The most common cable system is STD, however some smaller cable
companies still use the older HRC or IRC systems. Your cable company transmits
digital and analog on the same cable system.
- Press ENTER once more on Start to begin
programming channels into the TV.
- The TV memorizes all stations first and
then removes scrambled channels.
Note:
This process can take over 20 minutes.

- When the Auto Program is complete, press
ENTER to begin watching TV.
Other Troubleshooting Steps You Can Take:
If the procedures above do not resolve your problem, try the following:
- Connect
the RF connection to another TV and see if it works. If you do not
get all of your channels, the problem lies with the antenna or cable.
- Connect
the TV to a different cable connection, and then repeat the Auto
Program procedure. If you get all of your channels, the
problem lies with the cable.
- Move
or rotate the antenna to improve reception, and then run repeat the Auto Program
procedure.
If the
troubleshooting above does not fix your problem, then the tuner in your TV has
failed, and you need to get your TV serviced. Please click the Create Online Service
Request button below to set up service for your TV.
