There are many Scientific Atlanta boxes.

Some of the more common models are the:

• Explorer 8300HD
• Explorer 4250HD
• Explorer 3100HD

Adjusting the Aspect Ratio

There are two ways to adjust the aspect ratio on Scientific Atlanta Boxes:

• Using the shortcut button on the remote
• Using the on-screen menu.

Both methods are described below.

Using the Short Cut Button On The Remote

To cycle through the available aspect ratios, press the # button on the remote control repeatedly.  

Each time you press the # button, the aspect ratio changes.

Note:

In most cases, when you change the aspect ratio this way, your TV will not display text on the screen indicating which aspect ratio your set-top-box is displaying.  

To determine the aspect ratio, you must look at the picture.

Using the On-Screen Menu

To adjust the aspect ratio using the on-screen menu, follow these steps:

1. Press the [Settings] button on the upper portion of the remote.
2. Use the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to highlight the “Picture Size” menu item.

Note: The current picture size is displayed next to it.

3. Use the [Left] or [Right] arrow button to change the picture size to the desired size.
4. Press [Exit].
