What Media Play (Media 2.0) Functions Does My USB Port
Support?
Answer:
There are
two versions of Media Play available, Media Play and Media Play (Movie).
If your television
has Media Play, you can use the USB port to view pictures or play music stored
on a compatible USB device.
If your television has Media Play (Movie), you can also
view video.
To use Media
Play,
you need to attach a compatible USB device containing the appropriate files
to the USB port on your TV.
To use Media
Play,
you also need files that meet Media Play requirements.
To see the requirements
for the different media type files, review the media type you�re interested in below:
Note: The
specifications listed here are generic and apply to almost all compatible models.
Please check your owners manual for any other limitations that your television
might have.

USB device requirements are also listed below.
Pictures
The picture
files you use with Media Play must meet the following requirements:
- The
files must be in JPEG format. No tif files, .bmp files, etc.
- The
file names must be in English, French, or Spanish.
- The
folder and file names must contain only alphanumeric characters.
- Wiselink
displays files with names that contain non-alphanumeric characters as �???�.
- The
JPEG resolution can be no larger than 15360 x 8640.
Other Considerations
- If
a filename is too long, Media Play displays the file name in the following
format: �filename...+.jpg�.
- We
recommended using the sequential JPEG format.
- If you use the progressive
JPEG mode, decoding may fail because progressive mode files require too
much memory.
- If
sort key is set to Basic View, up to 1000 files can be displayed in each
folder.
- The Other sort key can display up to 10000.
- For
unsupported or corrupt files, the 'Not Supported File Format' message is
displayed.

your TV displays the loading icon, do not remove the USB device.
- The
higher the resolution of the image, the longer it takes to display.
Audio
The audio
files you use with Media Play must meet the following requirements:
- The
files must be in an MP3 format. No wma files, flac files, ogg files, aac
files, etc.
- The
file names must be in English, French, or Spanish.
- The
folder and file names must contain only alphanumeric characters.
- Wiselink
displays files with names that contain non-alphanumeric characters as "???"
- MP3
files with DRM that have been downloaded from a non-free site cannot be
played. Digital Right Management (DRM) is a technology that supports the
creation of content, the distribution and management of the content in an
integrated an comprehensive way, including the protection of the rights
and interests of the content providers, the prevention os the copying of
contents, as well as managing billing and settlements.
Other Considerations
- If
a filename is too long, Wiselink displays the file name in the following
format: "filename...+.mp3".
- The
number of music files on the USB device should not exceed 3000, Wiselink
may not display any file exceeding the 3000 file limit in the Music List.

Video
The video
files you use with Media Play must meet the following requirements:


If a video
file does not meet all the necessary requirements, Media Play displays the
message �Not Supported Format�.

- The
higher the resolution of the video, the longer it takes to display

Requirements
Important: Before
connecting your device to the TV, please buck up your files to prevent them
from damage or loss of data.
Samsung is not responsible far any data file damage
or lost. Do not disconnect a USB device while it is loading.
The USB
devices you use with Wiselink must comply with the requirements below:
- Media Play only supports USB Mass Storage Class devices (MSC)
- MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) is not supported
- The
file system you have on your USB device must be either FAT16, FAT32, or
NTSF
Other Considerations
- Certain
types of USB Digital camera and audio devices may not be compatible with
your TV.
- Media
Play does not support MTP (Media Transfer Protocol).
- An
MSC device supports MP3 and JPEG files, while a PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol)
device supports JPEG files only.
- Media
Play
may not recognize USB devices that have their own driver CDs and require
you to install these drivers.
- If
more than 2 PTP devices are connected, you can only use one at a time
- If
more than one MSC device is connected, some of them may not be recognized.
- If a device requires high power (more than 500mA or 5V), the USB device
may not be supported
- If
an over-power (Fail add new device USB1/USB2 Power Overload) warning
message is displayed while you are connecting or using a USB device, the
device may not be recognized or may malfunction.
